Several law enforcement agencies are searching for the killer of a Chattahoochee Hills (Ga.) police officer, who was shot by a high-powered gun as he patrolled a rural area northeast of Atlanta.
Lt. Mike Vogt was ambushed as he drove down a dirt road, AJC.com reports. He was investigating a suspicious vehicle. After the shooting, Vogt was able to reverse for about 50 yards and call for help, before his patrol car came to a stop.
