Safariland Adds Armor Model to Second Chance Summit Series
Safariland's MN01 Type II body armor can defend against increased velocities of ammunition calibers that better reflect current street threats and law enforcement duty weapons.
The MN01 Type II is thin, light and flexible. It is made from a hybrid of all Kevlar ballistic materials.
Safariland introduces a new armor model that satisfies the requirements of the National Institute of Justice's (NIJ) new Voluntary Body Armor Compliance Testing Program under NIJ Standard-0101.06 (NIJ-06).
The new model is part of the Second Chance Summit Series, which features ballistic designs that optimize comfort, according to Safariland.
The new vest, the MN01 Type II, is made from a hybrid of Kevlar ballistic materials and is thin, light and flexible. In compliance with Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor NIJ Standard-0101.06, the MN01 Type II can defend against increased velocities of ammunition calibers that better reflect current street threats and law enforcement duty weapons.
The NIJ introduced the Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor NIJ Standard-0101.06 to establish minimum performance requirements and test methods for the ballistic resistance of personal body armor. The standard provides improved performance of body armor so that officers receive adequate protection against those threats likely faced over the next decade.
