R.I. Campus Closed After Gunman Reported, Toy Gun Found

The University of Rhode Island's Kingston campus was locked down at noon today in response to reports that a gunman was inside the university's Chafee Hall. Students, faculty and staff were being encouraged to take shelter.

Emergency alerts have been sent via phone calls, text and e-mails, reports WPRI . No shots have been fired and no injuries have been reported, claims Boston.com. Classes have been cancelled.

The Rhode Island State Police have reported they found no evidence of a shooter or firearm, but have recovered a Nerf gun.
