Rhode Island Officer Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash While Responding to Backup Call

An officer with the Warwick (RI) Police Department was injured when his SUV struck a stone wall in a roundabout.

According to the Providence Journal , the officer was en route to provide backup to another officer who was attempting to arrest an individual wanted on a warrant.

Medical responders arrived on scene, discovering the officer to be conscious but suffering from several undisclosed injuries.

The officer's name has not been released.
