Report: L.A. Cops Fired 100+ Rounds at Newspaper Truck

Eight  LAPD  officers who fired dozens of rounds at a newspaper delivery truck during the Chris Dorner manhunt will be kept out of the field until the investigation is complete, according to the agency.

The officers "will remain in non-field assignments until the chief decides otherwise," Lt. Andy Neiman told POLICE.

The officers may have fired more than 100 rounds at a Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck delivering copies of the Los Angeles Times on the morning of Feb. 7, according to  NBC News . The department has not released the number of rounds fired, Lt. Neiman said.

The shooting ocurred after officers were notified that the truck matched the description of Dorner's Nissan Titan. Margie Carranza, 47, was struck in the hand and her mother Emma Hernandez, 71, was struck twice in the back.

There have been conflicting reports about the number of rounds fired. The women's attorney told NBC he counted 102 rounds in the Tacoma. The Los Angeles Times reports officers fired "between 20 and 30" rounds.

Other rounds struck a front door, walls, and garages of homes on Redbeam Avenue in Torrance.
