POLICE Magazine Wins Best Public Safety Trade Magazine Award

POLICE Magazine won best Public Safety/Trade Magazine at the 57th Annual Maggie Awards, presented by the Western Publications Association. POLICE Magazine's September 2007 issue took the top honor for the category of best Public Safety/Trade.

POLICE Magazine won best Public Safety/Trade Magazine at the 57th Annual Maggie Awards, presented by the Western Publications Association. POLICE Magazine's September 2007 issue took the top honor for the category of best Public Safety/Trade. September features included "Inside the NYPD Bomb Squad," "How to Photograph Injuries," "Retention Holster Showdown," "Car Bombings," "Crimes at ATMs," "Off-the-Clock Robbery Response," and "Seizing and Searching Passengers."

"We do our best to serve our readers and they reward us with their loyal readership," says Leslie Maris, publisher of POLICE Magazine. "So it's an honor to be recognized by the publishing industry for our efforts as well, especially in the company of so many top notch publications."

The four other finalist publications for the Public Safety/Trade category were Campus Safety Magazine (sister publication to POLICE), FireRescue, Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS), and Law Officer Magazine. POLICE Magazine and its new bi-annual sister publication POLICE Recruit were finalists in a record number of categories this year including Best Interview or Profile/Trade, Best Regularly Featured Department, Section or Column/Trade, and Annuals, Semi-Annuals and Three-time/Trade.

The Maggie Awards is the most prestigious magazine publishing awards in the western United States. The awards honor both consumer and trade magazines, in print and electronic, in a wide range of categories. Out of nearly 2,000 entries representing more than 500 magazines, a total of 88 Maggies were handed out at the awards banquet held on May 2nd, 2008, at the Westin Hotel at Los Angeles Airport. Nearly 600 publishing professionals attended this black-tie affair.
