Philadelphia Officers Attacked with Bricks and Molotov Cocktails by Rioters

Officers with the Philadelphia Police Department were hit with bricks and Molotov cocktails in West Philadelphia Sunday as peaceful protesting turned into violent rioting over the weekend.

According to CBS News , five officers were injured in the melee on Sunday and four police vehicles were burned.

More than 200 people were arrested by responding officers as the unrest unfolded.

The National Guard has been activated to help quell the violence as Philadelphia police officials concede that they are not adequately staffed to deal with the sudden eruption of violence.
