Nieves suffered severe damage to his upper body—a crushed shoulder and broken ribs—when a woman drove over him as protesters turned violent during a demonstration.

The driver of the vehicle—identified as 41-year-old Angela Hall—has been charged with attempted murder.

An officer with the Philadelphia Police Department who was severely injured during rioting three weeks ago has been released from the hospital and is now recovering from his wounds in the comfort of his own home.
