A unique weeklong youth camp presented by Pennsylvania State Police, the American Legion, and Pennsylvania National Guard has attracted dozens of students interested in a career in law enforcement and/or the military.
For six days, the teens will live in the dorms at York College, marching to and from classes in platoon formation, according to WHTM-TV.
“You will learn how to work as a team and be taught self-esteem, as you will be the future Leaders of our state and nation,” said a description of the camp on the American Legion Website.
Campers — boys and girls who must have turned 15 years old by the start of camp and has not turned 18 years old by the end of camp — will attend classes in criminal codes, forensics, and crowd control. Classes also include some level of tactical operations training.
Campers who endure the physical and mental challenges presented by the instructors for the full six days will graduate on Saturday.
