Pennsylvania Lawmaker Wants Vote on "Stop and Frisk" in November

The proposed ordinance—which is entirely nonbinding and symbolic—is under consideration even as the Philadelphia Police Department has significantly scaled back stops that have been found by the United States Supreme Court (under Terry v. Ohio) to be legitimate practices.

A lawmaker in Philadelphia is pushing to have voters weigh in on the practice of "stop and frisk" in the upcoming general election.

According to the Philadelphia Tribune , City Councilwoman Cherelle Parker wants to put the practice of "stop and frisk" in front of voters in a referendum on the November 2020 ballot.
