Oregon Officer Saves Infant from Burning Home

An officer with the Astoria (OR) Police Department is being heralded as a hero for his quick actions late last week that are now only becoming public knowledge.

According to Fox News , Officer Jason Robinson arrived at the home as smoke billowed from several windows and ran inside after hearing the mother outside saying that her baby was still in a swing in the home.

A civilian responder—Christine Lawler—was just about to enter the home when Officer Robinson emerged from the door with the child in his arms.

Lawler said, "I opened the door, put my hoodie over my nose and was ready to go in and out he comes."

Astoria Police Chief Geoff Spalding said on Monday, "In all likelihood at the bare minimum, he [Robinson] prevented that small child from suffering from additional smoke inhalation, not to mention the possibility of saving a life, so I think that his actions are very commendable and heroic at the same time."
