Officers were called to a residence at 5:30 a.m. about a suicidal subject who police say had assaulted a family.
Video from the incident shows one officer approaching the door and being attacked by a male subject holding a knife. It was later discovered that the officer’s radio holder blocked the knife from wounding the officer.

The officer warned the man to stop and then he and three other officers opened fire when he did not do so.
OKCPD spokesperson Capt. Valerie Littlejohn said in the department briefing that the officers “had no opportunity to deescalate.”
The suspect was shot and pronounced dead at a local hospital.
