Oklahoma Officer Fatally Strikes Man Crossing Interstate in the Dark

An officer with the Oklahoma City Police Department fatally struck a man crossing an interstate freeway in the dark after getting petroleum for his empty gas tank.

According to Tulsa Public Radio , Sergeant John Ricketts—a 24-year veteran of the agency—was behind the wheel of his patrol vehicle and going home after a shift when he struck the unidentified man.

Another car then hit the pedestrian, who was declared dead at the scene.

The incident is under investigation.
