Consequently, the agency recently announced a "Women in Policing Day" on its
Facebook page
, telling potential recruits that the daylong event in January "is for those who have an interest in law enforcement and wish to learn more about the role of a police officer."
Activities will include some basic self-defense training, a Q-&-A session with command staff, and some hands-on firearm training.
"This is the first that I know of that we've tried something like this, so we're pretty excited and hope we have a good turn out," said White.
The event will take place on Friday, January 4th, from 0800 hours to 1600 hours. The agency said that lunch will be provided.
