The Piedmont (Okla.) Police officer who was fired for issuing a citation to the mother of a 3-year-old urinating in the street now says two supervisors sanctioned the ticket.
Ken Qualls, who was fired from the agency eight months ago, told KWTV he was given approval by the two supervisors as well as an assistant district attorney to issue the $2,500 citation.
The city fired Qualls eight days later and released a statement saying the officer should have used "better judgment." Qualls is considering filing a wrongful termination lawsuit, after the city's personnel board denied his request for reinstatement.
Qualls, who had 18 years of experience, wrote the ticket Nov. 4 to Ashley Warden because her 3-year-old son, Dillan, had dropped his pants in the front yard.
