An officer with the Twinsburg (OH) Police Department was caught on video rescuing an infant in a child safety seat that was turned awkwardly in an overturned vehicle following a crash on Saturday evening.
Screen grab of video posted to social media.
Video of the incident was posted to the agency's Facebook page , showing Officer Yamil Encarnacion crawling into the wreckage, cutting the child safety seat free from the vehicle and pulling the child from the wreck still buckled into the seat.
Twinsburg Police Chief Christopher Noga said in the social media post, "Most police officers do not think of themselves as extraordinary. We do what we do because we love our communities and want to serve them to the best of our abilities. On Saturday, August 29th, a Twinsburg police officer took extraordinary measures to potentially save a life."
The post continued, "Fortunately, both the driver and child suffered only minor injuries, a testament to the driver's usage of a seat belt and a properly installed child safety seat and both were transported to a local medical facility for treatment."
Chief Noga concluded the post by saying, "This is what we do and this is why we do what we do. This is why I am honored to work with the best police officers and staff in the world."
