Officer's Widow Meets Man Who Got Husband's Heart

The widow of a slain Jersey City Police detective met up with the Vietnam War veteran who received her husband's heart in an organ transplant earlier this year, reports CBS News .

Mari DiNardo was able to meet with Don Zolkiwsky, a Purple Heart recipient who received the heart of Marc DiNardo after his own was distroyed by a virus. DiNardo was fatally wounded while attempting to apprehend two robbery suspects at an apartment in July of 2009.

DiNardo was shot in the face by a shotgun blast. The 37-year-old father of three survived for about a week and was taken off life support . He was a 10-year veteran of the agency.

Mari DiNardi said meeting Zolkiwsky is "a miracle" because "a piece of [Marc] is living inside this man."
