Officer Wounded, Suspect Dead After South Carolina Station Shooting
Police say a homicide suspect fired shots into the Greenville (S.C.) County Law Enforcement Center before shooting a Greenville police officer then turning the gun on himself Monday night.

Police say a homicide suspect fired shots into the Greenville (S.C.) County Law Enforcement Center before shooting a Greenville police officer then turning the gun on himself Monday night.
Interim Police Chief Mike Gambrell told Fox Carolina that a man came to the front door of the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center about 10:30 p.m. armed with a shotgun and fired multiple rounds into a plate glass window. He said the building was locked at the time of the incident.
A police officer who was called for backup arrived and instructed the man to put down the weapon, but the man fired at the officer several times, striking him three times, according to Gambrell.
The officer fired one round at the man but did not hit him, according to Gambrell. He said the man then took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The officer was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to the forearm and two to the side, undergoing surgery early Tuesday. He was still in the intensive care unit on Tuesday afternoon.
