Retired Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Officer Dic Donohue—who was wounded in a gunfight with the Boston Marathon bombers six years ago—recently responded to Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders' comments that even "terrible people" like Dzhokhar Tsarnaev should have the right to vote while they are behind bars.
Candidate Sanders made the comment Monday night during a "town hall" event televised by CNN.
On Tuesday, Donohue took to Twitter, saying, "All I have to say today is that it would be nice to talk to @BernieSanders in person since he’ll be in my home state. We can talk about his comments from last night and more. I don’t live too far from Cambridge."
Donohue was critically wounded during a gun battle between the Tsarnaev brothers in the Boston suburb of Watertown. Fifteen other officers were also injured during the incident. Boston Police Department officer Dennis Simmonds died the following day from injuries he sustained during the gunfight.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed but his brother Dzhokhar survived and escaped but was later captured. He is presently incarcerated at ADX Florence in Colorado.
