Officer Who Stopped School Shooting to be Honored at Tonight's Chicago Bears' Game
Mark Dallas, the Dixon, IL, police officer who shot and wounded a school shooting suspect at a high school in February, will serve as the team’s honorary captain for the game, and will attend the contest as a special guest of the team, the Bears confirmed Thursday.
A police officer who stopped a school shooting earlier this year will be honored by the Chicago Bears at their home opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.
Mark Dallas, the Dixon, IL, police officer who shot and wounded a school shooting suspect at a high school in February, will serve as the team’s honorary captain for the game, and will attend the contest as a special guest of the team, the Bears confirmed Thursday.
It is the latest in a long line of honors for Dallas, who chased the suspect and shot him, preventing any other injuries during the incident. He was honored by Governor Bruce Rauner in May with “Officer Mark Dallas Day,” and other teams and organizations have given him similar honors after his heroic actions, NBC Chicago reports.
