Officer, Champion Boxer Spends Her Own Money on Scholarships

Tiara Brown is a former DC Metropolitan police officer who is returning to her hometown of Fort Myers, FL, and hopes to serve there. She's also a champion boxer, and a woman who believes in her community so strongly that she saves her money to offer scholarships to local students.

Annually, Fort Myers seniors submit essays to the Tiara Brown Academic and Athletic Scholarship.

This year, two students were selected and each received $1,000 in scholarship—thanks to a match by community advocate, Keith White.
