After watching a 21-year-old man violently shake a toddler and then hurl the girl into traffic, an off-duty Oakland police officer flagged down a citizen vehicle to follow the man and make the arrest, SF Gate.com reports.
The officer saw a man later identified as John Taylor Jr., hurl the 18-month-old girl into traffic, where she was hit by a vehicle. The officer helped remove the girl, who was determined to be the suspect's child, from underneath the vehicle. She escaped major injury.
