An officer with the Wadley (GA) Police Department died while driving back to his home following his shift on Sunday morning.
The agency posted on Facebook , "It's with much grief and sadness that we the Wadley PD and City of Wadley inform you of the passing of Patrolman Daniel Thomas. Thomas was such a devoted, patriotic, brave, officer who loved helping people."
According to reports, Thomas' vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
