Off-Duty Chicago Officer was with Another Officer When She Reportedly Died by Suicide

A 47-year-old female officer with the Chicago Police Department found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on Saturday night was reportedly with another officer at the time of her death, according to the Chicago Tribune .

Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said on Monday, "She was with a male individual whom she knew, they were coming home from an event together and he has been completely cooperative with police."

Guglielmi added, "He is extremely distraught."

The names of the officers have not been released.

Guglielmi said that the department is still investigating the case.
