The NYPD is expanding the availability of defibrillators to ensure they are in place at each of its station houses, transit bureaus and housing projects it polices, the New York Post reports.
Since starting to use defibrillators in 1997, NYPD officers have saved 54 people using them. Only 1 to 2 percent of people who suffer a cardiac arrest survive.
