North Carolina Deputies Arrest Gator on “Suspicion of Being a Dinosaur”

The 350- to 400-pound reptile was seen “chilling and snapping” near the double yellow line witnesses told the deputies, the sheriff’s office reports on Facebook .

Now nicknamed Pepe, the gator was cited for “Suspicion of Being a Dinosaur Without Proper Papers, Public Loitering with Intent to Sunbathe, and Obstructing Traffic.”

The gator was relocated to a safer area, the sheriff’s office said.

Last Wednesday (May 28, 2025) deputies from the Onslow County (North Carolina) Sheriff’s Office and officers from North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission caught a 10-foot alligator “loitering”on a local road.
