The former New York City police officer who was acquitted of raping an intoxicated Manhattan woman won't face drug charges after heroin was found in his police precinct locker.
Prosecutors declined to file charges against Kenneth Moreno stemming from a 2009 search of his Ninth Precinct locker following his arrest on the rape charge.
Moreno and Franklin Mata were acquitted on the rape charge in May, but face jail time after they were found guilty of official misconduct. Following their acquittal, Moreno ripped prosecutors, saying they bowed to political pressure in taking a weak case to trial.
