Cheryl Schultz has been waging a legal battle since 2007, when a judge rejected her claim. Kevin Schultz served with the Pojoaque Police Department.
Kevin Schultz was fishing with a group of children from his church when a 12-year-old boy fell into the Rio Grande River. After pulling the boy from the river, Schultz collapsed in shallow water and drowned, reports the Associated Press.
