The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund will add the names of 317 officers who died in the line of duty to the national law enforcement officers memorial in Washington, D.C., this year, according to the fund.
This year, the names of 317 men and women added to the memorial will bring the total number of officers honored by NLEOMF and killed in the line of duty throughout history to 19,299. Of the 317 officers, 153 were killed in the line of duty in 2010. An additional 164 officers, who fell in previous years, have been discovered and vetted by the memorial fund's research department.
