Two Trenton (N.J.) Police detectives were shot and critically wounded by the boyfriend of a domestic violence victim while following up during an ongoing investigation at a residence.
Detectives Edgar Rios and James Letts were wounded in the Thursday morning shootout in the city's East Ward. The detectives returned fire, killing 23-year-old Eric McNeil, who had been released from state prison in May after serving three years and four months on a robbery and weapons conviction, reports the Mercer Times .
