A hatchet-wielding man has been shot and killed in a police-involved shooting in Queens, N.Y.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. Thursday at Jamaica Avenue and 162nd Street in Jamaica.
The officer was slashed in the head and taken to Jamaica Hospital, 1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria reported. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect walked up to a group of uniformed officers and hit one with the hatchet without warning, sources told CBS 2.
The officer was slashed in the head and taken to Jamaica Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Another officer at the scene fired several rounds hitting the suspect, who died at the scene, sources said.
A female bystander, who was accidentally struck by a police round, was taken to Jamaica Hospital, sources said.
The second officer was also taken to the hospital, sources said.
A motive for the attack is not known.
