New York Officers Fatally Shoot Knife-Wielding Subject

Officers with the Suffolk County (NY) Police Department were called on Saturday to respond to a reportedly suicidal man wielding a knife in the Long Island town of Shirley.

Officers arrived to find the man threatening himself and others with a knife, according to WPIX-TV .

A confrontation ensued and an officer opened fire on the man.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.
