According to Newsday, the 27-year Nassau police veteran took his own life at his Massapequa home on Monday evening.
Police reportedly responded to a call of a shooting and discovered the officer—whose name has not been released—mortally wounded.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
