A New Orleans police officer mowed down by a carjacking suspect he was trying to apprehend last week is still recovering from a fractured arm, the commander of the New Orleans Police Department's 2nd District said Tuesday.
Officer Vincent Williams, a nine-year veteran, was injured on Sept. 9, when he and other 2nd District task force officers confronted Curtis Tassin, 20.
About 4:40 p.m. that day, Tassin allegedly helped two men carjack a Chevrolet Avalanche parked at the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Josephine Street. They forced a 6-year-old boy out of the car and drove off.
