An officer with the Atlantic City Police Department was found dead in his car over the weekend in Galloway Township.
According to The Press of Atlantic City, Officer Richard Link was 29 years old and was considered by the command staff to be a "rising star" for the department.
Chief Henry White said in a news release, "On behalf of the men and women of the ACPD, my thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Officer Link at this difficult time."
The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Two officers were shot in Gainesville, Florida, by a man who police say was leaving an area where he had killed a man inside a business. The suspect exited his vehicle in what the chief termed an “ambush-style” attack.
