New Jersey Detective Shot Serving Search Warrant
Perth Amboy detectives were in Rahway attempting to execute an arrest warrant for a suspect in an aggravated assault incident that occurred on July 23.
A Perth Amboy, New Jersey, detective was shot up to three times while serving a warrant in Rahway Wednesday night.
The officer was struck in the legs and taken to a hospital in New Brunswick in stable condition, ABC7 reports.
Perth Amboy detectives were in Rahway attempting to execute an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Angel Santiago, who is a suspect in an aggravated assault incident that occurred on July 23.
As police approached the area, there was an exchange of gunfire between detectives and Santiago, resulting in the Perth Amboy detective suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the leg and Santiago suffering a single gunshot wound to the lower leg, police say.
