Nashville Officer Seriously Injured in Patrol Car Wreck

A man is facing criminal charges after a two-vehicle wreck early Tuesday downtown that seriously injured a Metro Nashville police officer.

Hermitage Precinct Officer Jacob Ross, 24, is recovering from non-life threatening injuries he suffered in the crash that occurred just before 6 a.m. near the Interstate 40 overpass, police said.

The preliminary investigation shows Ross, who joined the MNPD in August 2019, was responding to a non-injury vehicle crash on I-40 in his marked police car when the wreck took place, the Tennessean reports.

Ross was on the Fourth Avenue South ramp to I-40 east when he was struck in the passenger side by a blue 2007 Toyota Corolla.
