Moline Acres, MO, Police Sgt. Herschel Turner was struck and killed by a police vehicle driven by an officer from another agency Saturday afternoon during a traffic stop.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which is handling the investigation, a Bellefontaine Neighbors police car that was driving westbound to respond to the traffic stop veered off of the right side of the roadway, striking Turner.
At a Sunday press conference, Moline Acres Police Chief Gregory Moore described Turner's death as "just one of those freak accidents that happened," KSDK reports.

“The public needs to know that we're in the middle of investigating a very comprehensive incident involving many moving parts and factors, so there are certain things right now that are an unknown,” Ihler told KSDK.
Turner had served in law enforcement for 22 years and served with the Moline Acres Police Department since 2015, Moore said. He is survived by his wife and three daughters.
