The family of Corporal Derrick Couch, a Clarksdale, MS, officer who was shot in the head in February, says Couch was taken off of life support on Tuesday and is recovering.

He is reportedly breathing on his own and even talking,

reports.
Police said Couch was severely injured after Leandrew Booker and Johnny Robinson robbed the Corner Grocery Store in Clarksdale.
Couch was shot in the head when he tried to apprehend Robinson.
