Miss. Officer Arrests Shoplifter, Suffers Heart Attack

A Carthage (Miss.) Police officer suffered a fatal heart attack after arresting a shoplifting suspect late last month.

Corporal Van Perry, 49, has transported the suspect to the police station on Aug. 28 and began to interview him when Perry suddenly collapsed, reports ODMP .

He was flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he remained until he died on Sept. 5.
