An officer with the Detroit Police Department was hospitalized following an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to the Associated Press, Sgt. Nicole Kirkwood says the female officer accidentally shot herself at Detroit Public Safety headquarters while working on Friday evening.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer's name hasn't been provided and no further information has been released.
