Michigan Officer Suffers Accidental Gunshot Wound

An officer with the Detroit Police Department was hospitalized following an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the Associated Press , Sgt. Nicole Kirkwood says the female officer accidentally shot herself at Detroit Public Safety headquarters while working on Friday evening.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer's name hasn't been provided and no further information has been released.
