SEARCHA Miami Beach Police officer who was supposed to be patrolling the beach struck two people while apparently joyriding the departmental ATV. The officer is suspected of having been intoxicated at the time and riding the vehicle on the beach with a female companion he may have picked up at an Ocean Boulevard bar.

The officer is suspected of having been intoxicated at the time and riding the vehicle on the beach with a female companion he may have picked up at an Ocean Boulevard bar.
Miami Beach Police Chief Carlos Noriega told the Miami Herald the officer lost control of the vehicle around 5:15 a.m. Sunday near Fourth Street. He struck two people, and a third was also taken to a hospital for treatment.
