Two Benton Harbor, MI, police officers fatally shot a man after they were shot late Thursday night.
Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety officers were trying to arrest Dustin Levell Saffell, 32, around 11:15 p.m., April 7, Director Daniel McGinnis said during a news conference Friday, April 8, Mlive reports.

Saffell can be seen getting out of the passenger seat of a car, holding a handgun with an extended magazine, according to footage from Sgt. Reginald Gee’s body camera that was shown at the news conference. In the video footage, Saffell starts firing and Gee returns fire, McGinnis said. Gee was shot in his armor and in the leg.
Officer Blake Kinzler came to Gee’s assistance. Kinzler was shot twice in his armor and once in the leg, McGinnis said.
