Mexican National Arrested Transporting $2.1M of Heroin In Illinois

A Kane County (Ill.) Sheriff's deputy discovered $2.1 million in heroin stashed in a vehicle, after he pulled over a driver for failing to signal. The bust is believed to be the largest seizure ever in the county.
The deputy made the traffic stop along Route 25 in Elgin after Claudia Chagoya, 41, of El Paso, Texas, failed to signal when required. Chagoya, a Mexican national and the only person in the vehicle, didn't have a valid driver's license.
Believing Chagoya was transporting illegal narcotics into the Chicago area, the deputy searched the vehicle and located a hidden compartment.
Once deputies were able to access the compartment, more than seven kilograms of heroin was discovered. It carries a street value of about $2.1 million, according to the sheriff's office.
Chagoya was charged with one count each of controlled substance trafficking and unlawful possession with the intent to deliver; and two felony counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
