Memphis Cop Arrested for Sex Trafficking

Federal agents have arrested a Memphis (Tenn.) Police officer and charged him with running an intra-state prostitution ring.

Officer Sean McWhirter was arrested Sunday and charged with transportation of women in interstate commerce for prostitution. Bail was set at $10,000. The officer, who has served since 2007, was relieved of duty with pay, reports the Commercial Appeal .

The FBI began investigating Officer McWhirter in May 2011 when an informant reported that the officer was frequenting clubs known for drug use and prostitution.

The informant offered McWhirter $120 to bring three women to a party in Tunica to perform sex acts. He was arrested when he showed up.
