Former BART police officer Johannes Mehserle wept on the witness stand at his second-degree murder trial today, as he described the sequence of events that led to the shooting of unarmed Oscar Grant on Jan 1, 2009, SF Gate.com reports.
Mehserle wept as he said he killed Grant by mistake. The former officer said he didn't realize he had shot Grant, 22, until he looked at his right hand after firing and saw he was holding his pistol.
