Johannes Mehserle took the witness stand Thursday to begin his testimony of what will eventually include him describing the shooting of the unarmed Oscar Grant during a Jan. 1, 2009 arrest that led to the officer's trial on second-degree murder charges in Los Angeles, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
During the hour of testimony, Mehserle described his childhood dream of becoming a police officer, discussed Taser training and said he thought Officer Anthony Pirone has an aggressive style to his police work.
