Maui Officer Shot and Killed Responding to Incident at Sugar Mill

A Maui Police officer was shot and killed Friday night (August 15, 2025) around 8:30 while responding to an “in-progress terroristic threatening incident” at a sugar mill.

Officer Suzanne O and other Maui officers responded. Officer O was fatally shot at the scene.

“The suspect involved in the incident remains in custody as the investigation is currently ongoing,” Maui Police said in a statement .

Officer O joined the Maui Police Department in 2020.
