Massachusetts Police HQ Evacuated After Elderly Woman Brings in Mortar Round

The Reading (MA) Police Department headquarters building was briefly evacuated after a 79-year-old woman brought in a bag containing a 60mm mortar round and other live ammunition.

According to WHDH-TV , the woman found the ordinance in her attic and decided to bring it to the police.

A bomb squad was called to the scene and the mortar was determined to be inert.

The headquarters building was then reopened.
