Massachusetts Officers Surrounded and Threatened While Attempting Arrest

Officers with the Boston Police Department were attempting to affect an arrest of an individual suspected to be illegally in possession of a firearm when they were surrounded and threatened by a crowd of onlookers.

Officers with the Boston Police Department were attempting to affect an arrest of an individual suspected to be illegally in possession of a firearm Tuesday when they were surrounded and threatened by a crowd of onlookers.

The agency said in a statement , that responding officers encountered a subject—identified as 44-year-old Jermaine Thomas—wearing a "fanny pack" over his shoulder.

They exited their patrol vehicle and began to speak with the man. A struggle then ensued, during which at least one onlooker threw a bucket of water on the officers attempting to take the man into custody.

The crowd of agitators then opened a fire hydrant causing a heavy flow of water pressure onto the street directed at the officers.

The subject was eventually taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and resisting arrest.

None of those gathered around the incident were arrested or charged.
